A Curator’s Perspective: Bendigo with Love
Friday 3 July * 2pm-3.30pm
Latrobe Art Institute – 121 View Street Bendigo
Join us for a free history talk in Bendigo.
Former senior curator of photography at Museums Victoria Euan McGillivay will highlight the historical value and significance of the Allan Doney Collection of over 13,000 images, now in the care of the Bendigo Historical Society.
Euan will compare and contrast Allan’s images with a variety of public photographic collections. He will present examples in Museum Victoria’s collections and how the Doney collection measures up technically and artistically.
This public presentation coincides with the Bendigo with Love exhibition at the Bendigo Historical Society that features over 80 original photographs taken and printed by Allan Doney. Although an amateur, Allan was one of Bendigo’s most prolific photographers.
