Events and Monthly Meetings Dates for 2022 are now available on this website.
Negotiations are ongoing to secure a new storage space for the collection with sufficient workspace for volunteers to continue cataloguing the Collection.
BHS is also trying to secure enough space to include Research services and a small exhibition space.
The BHS area at Nolan Street is now closed to allow volunteers to prepare the collection for relocation.
It is unlikely that a new storage space will be operating for the remainder of 2021.
BHS will not be accepting new donations until the Collection has been relocated and established in its new space.
Specimen Cottage is also closed and its future with the BHS is unsure.
Until the BHS is reestablished in a new location, communication with BHS will be via email or mail.

Specimen Cottage Interpretation Project
We are asking for volunteers who feel they could contribute as a team member to develop one or more of the themes outlined in the plan for Specimen Cottage. The current extent of these themes is broad. The task of each team will be to provide focus for each theme as well as some significant stories about people, places and events.
At the first meeting of each team, the exhibition coordinator will conduct a short workshop that will help teams structure their progress. However the first part of the process will be ‘brainstorming”, where all ideas will have equal merit. Expect 3-5 meetings over a three month period, beginning in March 2020.

Advocate (Melbourne, Vic. : 1868 – 1954) Wednesday 23 August 1944 p 22 Article
An old and respected resident of Golden Square, Mr. Patrick Cooper, passed away recently.
For 50 years Mr. Cooper was employed with the Water Commission, and for 38 years he was water bailiff. He retired 18 years ago.
He was a native of Crusoe, and had lived in the district all his life. Sympathy is felt for his daughter, Miss Lucy Cooper, in her loss. His wife, Mrs. Mary Cooper, one daughter, Theresa (Sister Mary Borgia) and son, Roy, pre-deceased him.
The funeral took place to the Kangaroo Flat Cemetery and was largely attended. The burial service was read by Rev. P. O’Connor.
The BHS will be conducting history walks on the first Sunday of August, September, November and December at 10.00 am.
Cost: $5.00 pp.
The first walk will be on Sunday August 4.
